ALL FOR ONE
Welcome (back) to the We Are Wimbledon Fund.Â
As the team prepares to return to League One after a three-year absence, a group of fans working with the club have joined together to relaunch the We Are Wimbledon Fund with a campaign called ‘All For One: One Club. One Fund. One Wimbledon.’
We felt the timing was right to signify how, working together as one, Wimbledon fans can help the men’s first team thrive in League One.
The idea is this: if enough fans put in, say, the price of a couple of cups of coffee a month, we could boost the January playing budget by a whopping £250,000.
Lots of little amounts add up to something big.
Honestly, the maths works. We have around 5,000 season ticket holders. A cup of coffee on the high street can easily cost around £5.
If those 5,000 fans paid in the cost of half a cup of coffee (£2.50) a week, that would put us in a position together to donate 250k in January
Even if half that number of fans were in a position to donate £2.50 a week, that would generate £125,000 – enough to sign a decent player or two in the January window, we reckon. Who knows, we might even pick up the next Ali or Browne. Â
And don’t forget, we took more than 28,000 fans to Wembley recently (yep, if each of those fans put in £10/month we’d be looking at £1.6m come the new year!)
Of course, some people may be able to contribute more, some less. It all counts. It wasn’t so long ago we rallied around to raise around £10m to finish the stadium. And it was only months back when we raised around £123,000 to fix a pitch ‘explosion’. The sky really is the limit when Wimbledon fans answer the call.
How do I know how much has been raised?
Keep an eye on wearewimbledonfund.co.uk, where we will be updating our totaliser each day of the campaign – be ready to hit that refresh button!
I’m in, how do I donate?
Its as simple as visiting our DONATE button
Can I leave a message?
We would absolutely love you to!Â
At the checkout page you can leave a message of support for everyone to see on the homepage. Just to note, the board is moderated by a team of volunteers, so keep it clean please!Â
It’s all about priorities…
Of course, this won’t be for everyone. We are all too aware that we are living in tough times and not everyone will be in a position to donate – and that’s absolutely fine. Perhaps you could play your part by helping to spread the word about the fund, or volunteering to help the WAWF team.
Perhaps helping to fund the men’s first team isn’t where your priorities lay, and that’s fine too – there are plenty of ways to fund other aspects of the club (see https://www.afcwimbledon.co.uk/make-a-donation).
WAWF has in the past been used as a vehicle to support other areas of the club – whether academy tech or training ground facilities – and we are open to suggestions for future campaigns, do get in touch.Â
Either way, rest assured you’re playing your part simply by supporting the club!
Incentives, you say?
Back to All For One, and the warm fuzzy feeling we’ll all surely feel seeing a team we helped fund take to the field and do battle with the giants of League One. As if that weren’t enough, we will be running a string of incentives throughout the year and everyone who donates will be included.Â
Sponsorship
If you are a corporate fan looking for some fantastic coverage for your brand, we’ve got you covered too – we are looking for a cool brand to match donations made in August £ for £. On top of all the coverage we’ll give you, we think it’s fair to say you’ll be adored by thousands of Wimbledon fans in return – so if that’s you, get in touch (fundraising@wawf.co.uk) and find out more.
