We Are Wimbledon Fund volunteer Graham Stacey reports on a successful fundraising event in the heart of Wimbledon…

 

WAWF hosted its second Pub Quiz & Raffle on Sunday March 22 – with all proceeds going towards the mens’ first team playing budget. 

 

Quizzers filled The Alexandra pub in central Wimbledon where Mick ‘Scores On The Dores’ Dore fired off the questions ahead of a special music round where participants had to name the original song behind Wimbledon chants performed by Dons fan Sammy Mac. 

 

A raffle draw then took place with Dons legends Mikey Haswell, Joe Sheerin and Craig Cope picking out winners, who took home everything from a signed Women’s away shirt to a pair of hospitality tickets.

 

And the winner is…

 

With the quiz scores tallied it was a team led by Dons Trust founding chair Lou Carton-Kelly who took home the first prize of a signed shirt. Congrats Lou and team! 

 

Congrats to all our winners on the night and thank you to everyone who donated a prize – Ray Armfield, Wimbledon LTA Foundation, Nigel Planer, La Pernella, Dr Martens, and AFC Wimbledon – as well as to host Mick Dore and the team at The Alex.

 

The WAWF Cup 2026

 

The next WAWF event was also announced – the chance to take part in the inaugural WAWF Cup, a game on the hallowed turf of Plough Lane where fans can line-up alongside Dons legends such as Jon Main and Mikey Haswell, in teams managed by the likes of Mark Robinson.
