WAWF Pub Quiz: and the winner is…
The inaugural WAWF Pub Quiz was a roaring success – with a full house and prize raffle selling out to raise a whopping £1,750 for the We Are Wimbledon Fund.
Some 150 players packed into The Alexandra pub in central Wimbledon where Mick ‘Scores On The Dores’ Dore fired off the questions ahead of a special music round where quizzers had to guess the song behind Wimbledon chants performed in a folk style by Dons fan Sammy Mac.
A raffle draw then took place with Dons legends Mikey Haswell, Ben Judge and Simon Bassey picking out winners who took home everything from a matchworn shirt to a behind the scenes tour of Wimbledon Tennis for four and two hospitality tickets for an upcoming Wimbledon game.
With the quiz scores tallied it was a Dons Trust Board team led by Alex Folkes who beat off the competition to pick up the first prize of a signed shirt.
Congrats to all our winners on the night and thank you to everyone who donated a prize – Ray Armfield, Joe Blair, Wesley from WombleWorld, Wimbledon LTA Foundation, Goals Wimbledon and AFC Wimbledon – as well as to host Mick Dore and the team at The Alex.
